•• Reflections ••
Throughout our PYP exhibiton process, we will write reflections on how we feel or what we can improve on.

We had a session with the sixth graders who were our age last year. They told us some personal advice and their experience of working on the PYP exhibition. They told us what the PYP exhibition was. "The PYP exhibition is a project where you present what you've learnt from first grade". "We are also supposed to plan and make posters about topic." "In the PYP exhibition, we have to be a communicator in order to make our exhibition successful. " We also got some personal advice:
- "The PYP exhibition is not impossible. It is fairly easy."
- "Sometimes there are conflicts when you are doing your research!"
- "To get an amazing exhibition, work very hard and communicate well."

February 2016

In the month of February, we individually made a mind map about what we know about the central idea of "How We Express Ourselves" and the lines of inquiry itself. And after that, we started forming groups. Ashley wanted Sports or Broadway which resulted as the Musical Theatre group but then, Ashley went to Cassandra's group which is our group. We aren't accusing Ashley for exiting a group that she made to lure others. That really isn't a crime.

Today, we went to the MYP Library to research some more information about animation. All of the books were hard to find and we kind of failed miserably. Cassandra was impatient when someone wanted to search for the books. The trip to the MYP library was an amazing experience. They had a lot of books, space and computers. We made a timeline and a delegation list in order to keep us organized. Our goal for tomorrow is to find more places to go on field trips, get more work done and to prevent a member from not doing any work or doing the same task at the same time with someone else. We had a fantastic day today and we hope we could do much better tomorrow. ATL: Research and Communication Skills IB Learner Profiles: Knowledgeable PYP Attitudes: Independent ~Raysha & Ashley |

The school's tenth graders held an exhibition of their personal projects. There are two groups of the PP exhibition that were helping us learn more about Animation. We learnt to always note down everything you do during the process of the PYP exhibition and any other time and that you can show or explain different things in different ways. After visiting grade 10's Personal project exhibit, Mr. Michael helped us with our work since he had no class to teach (because of the PP). Our goal for tomorrow would be to settle the business letters and find more information using different sources. Today, our teacher gave us sheets of papers that were useful. We didn't really do much on the first four sessions since we had a Bahasa Indonesia subject. Cassandra was writing letters to request for visits for our fieldtrip. Raysha revised them. And after school, Ashley and Raysha went to the MYP library to find some books. We showed "cooperation" as Aizel and Cassandra worked together and Ashley and Raysha worked together too. We showed our "research skills" as we did some delegation. Unfortunately, Emily was absent. Even if some math work distracted us for good reasons, we made some progress. Yesterday, Raysha did some research on the first line of inquiry. The goal for tomorrow is to get more information and do the sketches for the animation. Our time to progress and to work is now! Hopefully, we could achieve this goal and finish what unfinished tasks. Our goal for tomorrow is to finish the letters and send them immediately (after checking) to the schools and contact them to inform them that we're visiting. We would also like to search a lot more things for the first and second lines of inquiry. ATL: Research Skills IB Learner Profiles: Principled PYP Attitudes: Commitment ~ Raysha & Ashley Friday, 29 April 2016 // Today, we made some huge progress in the blog. We edited the "Research" page but we are still finding some more research on the lines of inquiry. We also made a survey about animation. After school, we had a trip to the Infinity company, a place where they do lots of IT and animation, to interview the Leader of 3D Multimedia Mr. Rilo and to learn more about the process and production of animation. We learnt that animation could be very challenging to do especially for beginners. It takes time to make animation and to learn animation. Our goal for next Monday will be to answer all the questions of the first and second line of inquiry and we hope to search all the information, answering the questions of the third line of inquiry so we can start to focus on the production. Today was fantastic because we got to ask all 16 questions we wanted to ask in the interview that answered three of the lines of inquiry (although we still need to search more things). Today, we did some research and made some progress. We continued revising Cassandra's letter and made a survey. The survey was about types of animation. We did more research and we finally finished the first line of inquiry. Each member contributed very well and played their part in research. We finally got Cassandra's letter revised and approved and is already sent. We are currently awaiting their reply. By 'their', I mean IDS. So far, we have not sent the letter to SAE and the Studio. We showed 'commitment' by being responsible with our work and work delegation. We are slowly approaching towards success however we could achieve more...We will try to make some more progress. We are going to visit IDS either on Saturday or Sunday or any time convenient for them because the last thing we want to do is barge into the school for an interview. Hopefully we will be able to make some sketches for the animation because we are really falling behind in the 'How can this form of art be used to raise awareness for deforestation' part. ~ Raysha & Cassandra |

Monday, 2 May 2016 //
Today, we did some progress to fill our blog. Our 1st line of inquiry is already finished and now is the last 2 line of inquiry. Raysha did some research about traditional animation and digital 3D animation. That's finally done. But today, since we had to bring in advertisement/logos, we had to make a logo of our group and it was hard because we had to compromise each other's ideas into one. Oh, Ashley also brought 110 surveys to school. It was a really great way to raise awareness for deforestation. We passed a few today but got great answers. Then, our teacher checked our survey and it was pretty much wrong. The fourth question, which asked if "animation could raise awareness", was -not- specific. We had to tell every receiver that it means "Raising awareness about an issue such as deforestation, domestic abuse, etc.,". Well, we passed them anyways. Unfortunately, Ashley was absent because she had to go to Australia, so, Cassandra and Raysha were co-leaders. That isn't really the matter right now. We continued compromising our ideas together for our logo. And Raysha did some research on the development of animation by just reading a book. We continued our logo and it was nice. No words. We couldn't really do much because we had to practice some singing, dancing, etcetera for our PYP exhibition, so we were really distracted by something extra important. But I guess we did -some- progress. We passed some more surveys and it was the same as Monday. Actually, no, we passed -a lot- and we counted it. Aizel said "It's so many! 50 maybe! Hey, look, it is standing!". Yeah, he said it was 50 survey papers but we think it's much more than 50 papers, well, it was his opinion. ~ Raysha & Cassandra ATL: Communication & Social Skills IB Learner Profiles: Open-minded & Thinker PYP Attitudes: Enthusiasm & Cooperation |
